Exploring Opportunities for Academic Progression
On Tuesday, 29 October 2024, Dr Bernard Malik, Chief Executive Officer of American College in Brisbane, Australia, was scheduled to meet Mr Marcus Kara, Chief Executive Officer of Mapex Training Institute (MTI), in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
The proposed discussions focused on exploring opportunities for cooperation and strengthening pathways to further education. The discussions reflect MTI’s ongoing interest in supporting students who wish to continue their academic and professional development beyond their initial studies.
Supporting Further Study Opportunities
The proposed affiliation is intended to explore how students completing vocational training at MTI may pursue further study opportunities through suitable bridging programs and academic pathways at American College Brisbane.
Such opportunities could help eligible students identify further education options aligned with their qualifications, academic interests and long-term career goals.
Any formal agreement would need to establish the relevant arrangements, program availability, admission requirements, recognition of prior learning or qualifications, and progression conditions.

Start with a Strong Academic Foundation at MTI
Mapex Training Institute aims to support eligible Academic Diploma students who wish to explore further education opportunities in Australia.
Students completing Academic Diploma Year Two may submit their academic records for review. The MTI Board or its authorised academic committee may assess their grades, marks, course completion and academic standing before recommending suitable students to apply to an Australian education provider.
The MTI Foundation
Academic Diploma Year Two provides the foundation for reviewing student achievement and considering possible progression into an Australian Advanced Diploma or another suitable qualification, subject to the receiving college's admission requirements.
