It is indeed a great honour and responsibility to chair the Board of Directors for the next five years. I am grateful to members of the Board of MTI for choosing me to lead this growing, innovative and nationally owned private training institution that has been formally recognised and accredited by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHEST), through the National Higher Education Technical Board’s (NHETB) to provide tertiary education and training for the next five years (2025-2029). 

The driving force to help in earnest cannot be based on guilt or pressure; but a deep sense of inner gratitude emanates from the two-fold test, i.e., ability to do and the intention to deliver, thus the wherewithal to have the ability to help/ assist co-existing with an inner desire of positivity to work and deliver is where we find ourselves blessed. 

Formal education taps latent abilities and opens up an altogether different world. Education has enormous transformative power for any given crises. Everyone deserves the best start in life, and that will not be possible without quality education. If we need our future to be just and sustainable, we have to think collectively. For this gathered effort, education is the strongest tool. Education cannot be restricted to a single period of one’s life. Everyone, beginning with the most marginalized and disadvantaged members of our societies, must be to lifelong learning opportunities for both employment/ career perspectives as well as personal knowledge and development. That is the sole purpose of Mapex Training Institute’s existence. 

The Institution’s mission is to attract and develop exceptional students and lecturers from all backgrounds to serve with their “hearts” a meritocratic Papua New Guinea. MTI is an inclusive institution that celebrates and embraces diversity. Diversity for us is in terms of geography, culture, socio-economic background, and skills set. Differentiated learning and lecturing strategies along with an inclusive approach are at the core of the curriculum. We recognize MTI is uniquely different from other legacy private and public tertiary institutions in PNG due to its mission. 

Under the Academic Faculty, five Diploma programmes are offered in

1. Information Communications Technology, 
2. Accounting, 
3. Human Resource Management, 
4. Business Management and 
5. Tourism and Hospitality

The Academic Diploma is 2 years long and once completed, a student can pursue our Associate Degree and complete the Bachelor Programme in 4 years in the chosen field. There are 3 exit points; at the Diploma, the Associate Degree and Bachelor where a student can obtain work in between studies. The benefits of the Academic programme are:
